We’ve always known that moving is a stressful experience, but we now have a greater level of empathy having just relocated our office space after 21 years. (Yes, you read that right… we were in our previous space for TWENTY-ONE YEARS!) It’s even harder when you move on the coldest day of the year. So cold in fact that once the moving truck was loaded up, it wouldn’t start!
Our new office address:
10955 Lowell, Suite 612
Overland Park, KS 66210
By the way, this blog is coming out on April 1st. And this is NOT an April Fool’s joke. We really did move!
How long have you lived or worked in the same place?
When you have lived or worked in the same place for years, you know how much “stuff” accumulates over time. When you move, it’s a great time to identify what items should make the move, be sold, be donated or be junked. We definitely cleaned house during our office move. (I am glad to have not personally moved in nearly 16 years, but please don’t ask me how much “stuff” we’ve accumulated. :)
Despite the new office being a stone’s throw away from our existing office space, moving is still painful and expensive. We literally moved less than a mile… but moving is moving! You can see in the picture below the view from our old office to the new building we moved to.

Regardless of the distance, you still have to pack your computers and desks, clean the space you are leaving behind, hire movers or DIY it with a rental truck, order pizza for your staff, change your address that is on 1,000 different things, change the utilities and the list just seems to go on and on. In fact, when I asked AI “What to consider when moving an office?”, it came back with quite the list! (Here is a blog on Moving.com about preparing for an office move if you are interested… it is a massive list of things to consider!)

Moving Company Recommendation: You Move Me
If you do need to hire movers, we’ve had nothing but great experiences with the team over at YOU MOVE ME. They were professional, effecient and plenty of smiles for us even though move day can be stressful.
On the day of the move, we started out with Casey’s breakfast pizzas at the old office. We finalized things there and early afternoon ended up at the new location. We got everything generally set up how we wanted, but like any move you tweak things and there are always more boxes to unpack in the days following a move. Everyone pitched in to make this move a success. It was definitely a team effort.
We couldn’t be happier with our new office. There is something refreshing about cleaning house and starting another chapter in a new space!
